4 XFL standouts the Vikings should consider for 2020
By Luke Parrish

Jamar Summers – CB (New York Guardians)
Jamar Summers may be the best defensive player in the XFL. At just 24-years-old, Summers has played in the NFL, AAF, and now the XFL.
Summers is leading the New York Guardians on the defensive side of the ball. In two games, he has already recorded a fumble recovery and a pass deflection. He also ended up returning the fumble for a touchdown.
For the most part, opposing quarterbacks are staying away from him in the passing game. The sure sign of a good cornerback is limited action in his direction. We will see if he gets more looks throughout the season, but I assume that will not be the case.
The Vikings will have a brand new secondary in 2020 and it’s plausible they will bring in fresh faces in both the draft and free agency. Summers already has plenty of professional experience and he is likely to be on an NFL roster come mid-summer. He spent the 2019 preseason with the Detroit Lions and he made a few splash plays for them in their exhibition matchups.

Summers was a star at the University of Connecticut. In four seasons, he recorded 12 interceptions, 21 pass deflections, and 182 tackles. He continues to show that he can find the ball and make plays on defense. Minnesota desperately needs a cornerback who can create turnovers and Summers might just be that guy.
