Xavier Williams

Xavier Williams is another who dealt with unfortunate with injuries last season. A constant ankle problem hampered his ability to contribute consistently for a Kansas City Chiefs team that went on to win the Super Bowl.

That is not to say Williams cannot play at an elite level when healthy. He is a stout run stuffer who is incredibly hard to move off the block.

This makes him perfect for a Vikings defense that has enjoyed a great deal of success with similar players over the years.

Williams has a similar impact as namesake Pat when firing on all cylinders. Pat formed the ‘Williams Wall’ alongside Kevin Williams in Minnesota that was arguably the most feared defensive tackle duo in the NFL at one time.

Xavier Williams should be relatively cheap and he will have to prove he can remain healthy for any team to make a long-term commitment. Williams has the potential to make a real difference as a possible replacement for Linval Joseph and he is still only 28-years-old, so he should still have a few solid seasons left in the tank.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer loves high-character individuals and Williams fits into that mold. He is admired in Kansas City, but keeping him around may not be their highest priority given the need to extend the exceptional Chris Jones at the same position.
