The Minnesota Vikings have plenty of defensive opinions on their staff heading into next season, but is that going to be a good thing?

There will be plenty of opinions flying around the defensive staff meetings for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason thanks to a series of high-profile changes made during the last few weeks.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will be working closely with newly appointed joint-defensive coordinators Andre Patterson and Adam Zimmer. He also brought in another experienced figure in Dom Capers, who joins the set-up as a senior defensive assistant after accumulating a wealth of knowledge and success during his prolonged coaching career.

This could have a very positive effect on a Minnesota defense that is still littered with quality playmakers. Although the roster may have a completely different look to it by the time OTAs come around this spring, there is still plenty for the staff to work with.

Each will have their own ideas on how to make the franchise better on the defensive side of the ball. How these differing opinions translate to performance on the field will go a long way to determining whether Vikings can reach the playoffs again in 2020.

Having so many voices may also come with negatives. There are bound to be frustrations from some individuals who are not getting their way both during preparation and in-game situations.

It appears that Zimmer will remain calling the plays for the defense next season, which is another bold move given the options available in this department.

Let’s dive a little deeper into some of the most important changes to Minnesota’s defensive staff this offseason and figure out they will lead to positive results in 2020.
