Henry Ruggs – WR (Alabama)

One of the players set to wow scouts at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine is former Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs. He possesses blistering speed and he has the ability to stretch the field at any given opportunity.

Although fellow receiving prospect Jerry Jeudy acquired more headlines during his time with the Crimson Tide, it does not take away from the impact Ruggs made during his college career. He caught 40 balls last season for 746 yards, seven touchdowns, and a whopping 18.6 yards per catch average.

This followed a breakout campaign in 2018 that saw Ruggs score 11 touchdowns and gain 741 yards on 46 receptions.

Ruggs possesses incredible hands and although his route-running needs some brushing up for the NFL level, there are few that would question his overall potential. He will likely clock one of the fastest 40-yard dash times at this year’s Combine and his elite agility will leave scouts salivating over the possibility of taking the receiver in the first round.

By the time the NFL Draft and evaluation process is complete, the Vikings may have to trade up in order to acquire Ruggs. Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman might want to gamble though given they are both currently in the final year of their contracts with Minnesota and it is something they’ve done in the past with mixed success.
