7 prospects for the Vikings to watch on Day 1 at the 2020 Combine
By Dean Jones
Tee Higgins – WR (Clemson)
Former Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins is an imposing figure who is sure to leave his mark during this year’s NFL Scouting Combine.
He is a very accomplished wideout who is an exceptional red zone target given his 6-foot-4 frame and incredible strength. Higgins comes into the 2020 NFL Draft on a high after racking up 13 touchdowns and 1,167 yards on 59 receptions last season.
This came after an impressive 2018 campaign and Higgins also boasts excellent hands to go alongside his huge frame. These are things that every team around the league will clamor over leading up to the draft and the Vikings will be no different.
Having a big dependable body on third downs and in the red zone would be enormously beneficial for Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins and also take the heat off of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Higgins would command significant attention from opposing defenses that can free up space elsewhere.
His route-running does need some work, but imagine what being around people like Diggs and Thielen could do for his overall progression. Learning from two of the NFL’s best wide receivers would be an incredible experience for a prospect who scored 28 touchdowns during his three seasons in college.
Higgins is sure to test incredibly well at this year’s Combine and that will see him enter the first-round conversation. But there is no reason yet to suspect he will not be there when the Vikings have their first selection at pick No. 25.
