Are the Vikings playing a dangerous game with Anthony Harris?
By Dean Jones

What comes next for Harris?
Anthony Harris will probably know by the time free agency opens whether the Vikings will be offering him a new deal or not.
Although this appears unlikely given Mike Zimmer’s comments at the Combine, it is not without the realm of possibility. Harris will probably at least hear the Vikings out before looking elsewhere if they cannot meet his demands.
There is likely going to be a frenzy of offers for Harris’ services this offseason if he decides to move on. Safeties that provide elite numbers like he did last year are very hard to find and they are highly sought after in free agency.
Harris has just one season with this type of production, but he is ascending and he has his best years ahead of him. The safety would be wise to carefully consider his next move and not jump at the first eye-popping contract that comes his way.
The power is in his hands and that is something Harris can use to his advantage. A bidding war will put Minnesota out of the running, but it could provide him with a financial windfall beyond his wildest dreams at this time last year.
As Zimmer stated, Harris has earned every dollar coming his way after an exceptional 2019. Pro Bowl-level safeties do not tend to hit the free-agent market too often and this is something else that plays into his favor.
This is bad news for the Vikings though and Zimmer might have already made his decision for him with his comments at the Combine.
