Trey Adams – OT (Washington)

There were already huge questions about Trey Adams heading into the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. These questions all circulated around one major issue and that is his health.

Adams suffered injuries to his back and had a torn ACL during his college career. Medical checks were going to be very important to Adams, as every team had to figure out if this guy was healthy enough to invest a draft pick in. They also needed to figure out if his back issue was something that was going to be chronic or if he’s fully healed from it.

While it was positive to see Adams go out and compete in the 40-yard dash and the vertical and broad jumps, his numbers in those were far from impressive.

Adams ran the slowest 40-yard dash of anyone in Indianapolis with a time of 5.60 seconds. His numbers in the vertical and broad jumps were both near the bottom as well. So now teams are looking at a guy who not only has lengthy injury issues, but one who lacks overall athletic ability as well.

Adams was once seen as a first-round pick prior to his injuries. Before the Combine, he was still seen as a late Day 2 prospect. Following the Combine, the Vikings shouldn’t touch this guy before Day 3 and perhaps not until towards the end of it.

Adams is an experienced offensive tackle with great size, so there is a chance he’ll pan out in the league. There is just too much risk with this guy when the injury history and lack of athleticism are factored in. He should be considered a pure boom or bust type of prospect.
