Alexander’s production

Mackensie Alexander was one of the bright spots in an otherwise dismal season from the Vikings cornerbacks last year.

Their inability to cover on the outside was one of the catalysts behind their eventual downfall in the playoffs. That cannot be said for the play of Alexander, who was an assured presence in the slot and he performed well in the times he was asked to start.

He has improved his skills a considerable amount since arriving in the league in 2016. Alexander has grown in stature and he became a trusted figure on Mike Zimmer’s impressive defense.

The 26-year-old has his best seasons ahead of him and there is even a case to be made for him improving further with more experience. His ceiling is still very high and it would be a blow for Minnesota to lose another player entering his prime that they struck gold on in the NFL Draft.

Despite missing the final stages of the 2019 season through injury, Alexander has stayed relatively healthy throughout his four-year career to date barring ending his rookie campaign on injured reserve. This is something else that any team is going to like when they approach him with an offer he might not be able to refuse this offseason.

Alexander is also extremely well-liked within the Vikings locker room thanks to his enthusiasm and ability to perform consistently when called upon. In a year where some notable veterans are set to depart, Minnesota losing a high-upside player like Alexander would be another massive loss.
