Who makes the most sense for Minnesota??

When one looks at the current Vikings roster, it is clear that the secondary is a real priority. There is plenty of uncertainty with their group of defensive backs barring perennial All-Pro Harrison Smith. This area of the field could also be decimated by the time free agents and under-performers are shown the door this offseason.

This makes Trevon Diggs and Antoine Winfield Jr. the more likely to end up in Minnesota this year and continue their family legacy. Both would be tremendous additions to the franchise and each could provide an injection of youth and pace that has been missing in the team’s secondary during the last two seasons.

Mike Zimmer has relied on a predominantly veteran group that has come with mixed success. Going younger with more energy will give the Vikings defense a new lease of life.

Diggs is the more naturally talented of the duo and he has the potential to be a shutdown corner if he reaches his ceiling. Winfield is an instinctive player and he is very effective at the back end of the field.

If Anthony Harris somehow re-signs with Minnesota, then Diggs is a no-brainer for the Vikings in the draft. Whether he will be around when Minnesota picks at No. 25 in the first round of the draft is another matter.

Plenty of teams will take a close look at Diggs given his Combine performance last week, his college film, and the fact his brother is one of the best at his position. No team will know more about him than the Vikings, so it is something they need to make the most of.
