Adding a linebacker isn’t at the top of their priority list, but who are a few free-agent linebackers the Minnesota Vikings could look at this year?

The Minnesota Vikings have a number of needs they have to address this offseason. They will need to add talent and depth to their secondary, bolster their offensive line, land a backup quarterback, and add a wide receiver or two. While it’s not a major priority this year, the Vikings could also look to add a linebacker to their current group.

Minnesota could be losing Kentrell Brothers in free agency this year. While this isn’t a huge concern to the actual defense, Brothers has proven to be a very good special teams player.

Also, Ben Gedeon missed the majority of last season with an injury, but he wasn’t missed as Eric Wilson did a superb job filling in. So Gedeon is no lock to be on the roster in 2020.

Cameron Smith didn’t show much last season as a rookie either, so there are potentially three spots on the Vikings linebacker depth chart that could be up for grabs this year.

These will be backup roles as Minnesota set at the top with Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks. With the Vikings expected to have very little cap space this offseason and bigger needs elsewhere, if they do bring in a free-agent linebacker, they will be shopping in the bargain bin.

Minnesota will look for aging vets hoping for one last shot at a title or perhaps a once-promising young player who just hasn’t reached their potential yet. So let’s check out a few free-agent linebackers the Vikings could potentially sign this offseason.
