Mychal Kendricks

Mychal Kendricks is still facing possible jail time for felony insider trading, so that’s definitely a concern. That issue could very much lower his asking price though and he could be reunited with his brother, Eric, in Minnesota at a bargain rate.

The thing about Kendricks’ sentencing is that the guy who was charged along with him was only given three years probation. So it’s possible he might not miss any playing time in 2020. Signing Kendricks would be a major gamble, but it would be one that could pay off huge for the Vikings.

Kendricks was very good for the Seattle Seahawks after they took a chance on him following his release by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. Just last year, he racked up 71 total tackles and three sacks in 14 games. He is 29-years-old with plenty left in the tank.

If Minnesota were to sign him, he’d likely compete with Eric Wilson and the loser of this battle would probably just push Ben Gedeon right off the roster. Kendricks is solid against the run and he also has the athletic ability to cover running backs and tight ends.

Again with his impending legal issues, signing him brings a ton of risk. With that and the chance to play ball with his brother, it could be enough for him to take a cheaper deal with the Vikings. In all likelihood, he’d probably earn a starting spot in Minnesota would improve at a position they aren’t even looking that hard to upgrade this year.
