Can Cook stay healthy?

It’s no secret that Dalvin Cook could have even better numbers if he figures out how to stay on the field. Last year was a big step in that process as he hit career-highs across the board in large part because he was able to avoid the injury bug and play 14 games.

But that number is flawed after Cook left a pair of games early due to injuries and then missed a crucial late-season matchup with the Green Bay Packers in Week 16.

If there’s a silver lining to the nicks that Cook sustained throughout 2019, neither of said ailments was to the lower half of his body. These types of injuries nearly wiped out his entire rookie season in 2017 with a torn ACL and took out a large chunk of his sophomore campaign with a hamstring injury.

But with the Vikings expected to put Cook in another heavy-volume role in 2020, the question remains whether he can improve his availability to go through a 16-game schedule. If he can stay on the field, his goal of 2,000 all-purpose yards is within reach. If not,  there’s going to be more going to Alexander Mattison not only in 2020 but in future seasons as well.
