After missing a bunch of time due to injury during the 2019 season, will the Minnesota Vikings receiver be able to recapture his talent in 2020?

Heading into the 2019 season with the Minnesota Vikings, things couldn’t have been going much better for Adam Thielen.

Thielen was coming off of his second straight year with over 1,000 receiving yards and the Vikings had just awarded him a nice, $64 million contract extension during the offseason. Everything seemed to be going in the right direction for the receiver.

Thielen’s 2019 campaign got off to a pretty good start with five touchdown catches in his first five games. And then came Minnesota’s Week 7 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

On the Vikings’ second offensive drive of the game, Kirk Cousins tossed a 25-yard pass into the end zone and right into Thielen’s breadbasket. The Minnesota receiver came up with the catch, but he also suffered a hamstring injury on the play.

Thielen ended up missing the rest of the matchup and he went on to sit out a total of six games last season due to the injury. Before 2019, the Vikings receiver had suited up for every matchup since 2014.

Thanks to his injury issues, Thielen finished the year with just 30 catches for 418 yards and six touchdowns. Not the type of season Minnesota was envisioning for the receiver after giving him such a large extension.

But now Thielen has an entire offseason to heal up and try to regain the form that resulted in him earning two straight trips to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and 2018. Will he be able to perform at a high level once again next season or have we already seen the best of Thielen in the NFL?
