Vikings Draft 2020: Pre-free agency seven-round mock draft
By Adam Carlson
Fourth Round (Pick No. 132): Brandon Jones, S – Texas
The secondary gets a little more love in this mock draft by adding a safety that can do it all. With Jayron Kearse saying he isn’t returning and Anthony Harris likely too expensive to bring back, it appears as though there will be a competition for the spot opposite Harrison Smith.
The Minnesota Vikings will love his competitive nature and desire to win. He will work hard every play to ensure he leaves his best on the field at every opportunity. He proved this by returning to Texas for his senior year despite likely being a draft pick last year.
Standing 5’11 and weighing 198 pounds, Jones plays the line of scrimmage well and had at least four tackles for a loss in each of his final three campaigns with Texas. His nose for the football is solid as well, adding 217 tackles, seven pass defenses, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles in his last 34 contests.
At the moment, Jones seems like an incredible bargain for the fourth round but it appears as though that is where he might land. If that’s the case, the Vikings need to make the decision to add him to their roster.
