Stefon Diggs’ mind-games are a problem the Vikings don’t need

Diggs’ relationship with the Vikings
It is clear that the relationship between Stefon Diggs and the Vikings is fractured. Whether that is enough for the team to part ways with one of their most prominent offensive playmakers remains to be seen.
Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer did his best to hold Diggs in check last season. But his over-exuberance from an emotional perspective came to the fore when things weren’t going his way and the ball wasn’t coming to him as much as the player would like.
The decision-makers in Minnesota have far more pressing priorities than keeping an eye on what Diggs is doing during his free time. They have huge salary cap constraints to sort out and plenty of pivotal decisions to make over the coming days that are going to have significant implications on the franchise.
What they don’t need at the present time is an attention-seeking wide receiver wasting their time. If they are reading Diggs’ posts and the media stories that subsequently follow, then it is another concern they have to deal with.
Time needs to be spent on forming a plan to keep the team competitive in the absence of high-earning stars who they can no longer accommodate.
Zimmer knows exactly what sort of character Diggs is and how to manage him. There comes a time though when even the head coach will ask himself if the effort to control his unpredictable behavior is really worth it?
His production would certainly dictate Diggs is a vital cog in the offense, but that was also the case with former NFL stars such as Antonio Brown and Terrell Owens. It did not stop teams moving on from them and it might not prevent the Vikings from shipping out Diggs for a king’s ransom.
