Where do the Vikings go from here?

This situation between Stefon Diggs and the Vikings is going to come to a head in the not-too-distant future.

Mike Zimmer will not be overly keen on keeping around a player who does not want to be with the franchise going forward. This will create considerable problems down the line and the best possible chance for Minnesota to get a good haul for Diggs will be before the NFL Draft.

His production last year saw him gain 1,130 yards and six touchdowns from just 63 receptions. This sort of deep threat is highly sought after in the NFL and although Minnesota would likely be worse off without him, a large offer should be considered at this point.

Any potential Diggs departure would also relieve some much-needed cap space that is desperately needed for the Vikings this offseason. It is clear a conversation needs to take place between the receiver and Minnesota to find the right solution to this growing disturbance.

Diggs is a passionate player who has risen from being a mid-round draft pick to one of the premier receiving threats in the league. Asking him to tone it down would take something away from his game and it will be up to Zimmer to keep him on the straight and narrow if he remains on the roster.

That might be something that Diggs doesn’t want to do. He was visibly frustrated with his role in the offense at times in 2019 and he may want to demand a trade to become a team’s No.1 option next season.
