5 bold free agency predictions for the 2020 Vikings
By Chris Schad
The Minnesota Vikings will head into a pivotal free agency period this week, but what could happen under the current circumstances?
The Minnesota Vikings are officially under a renovation after releasing Xavier Rhodes and Linval Joseph on Friday afternoon. With two of the key pillars of their defense gone and many more entering free agency, it’s sure to be an offseason of transition for the Vikings as they attempt to stay afloat in the loaded NFC picture.
But even with the news that seven teams will make the playoffs in the 2020 season, Minnesota still has an uphill battle as the league year begins.
The defense needs to find a way to replace what they’ve lost and what they may lose in the coming weeks. The offense needs to find a way to put even more weapons around Kirk Cousins. Even the special teams are a mess with both Dan Bailey and Britton Colquitt hitting the market.
On top of that, the Vikings have limited funds to work with as they sit roughly $19 million under the salary cap. Long story short, if you thought Rob Brzezinski did some financial gymnastics to pull off last year’s haul, wait until you see the sequel in the coming weeks.
So what exactly can Minnesota do in free agency this offseason? We try to look into our crystal ball and find out with five bold predictions.
