5 bold free agency predictions for the 2020 Vikings

Cousins will wait to sign an extension
As we previously mentioned, the Vikings currently do not have a lot of money to work with during free agency this offseason. One of the ways to open up cash has been a rumored extension between the Vikings and Kirk Cousins. But less than 24 hours away from the tampering period, it doesn’t appear like that will happen.
Instead, it appears that Cousins will wait out a quarterback market that will have plenty of action.
The first domino happened on Sunday when Ryan Tannehill agreed to a $118 million contract with the Tennessee Titans with $62 million of it being fully guaranteed. The next should happen as Tom Brady, Teddy Bridgewater, and Philip Rivers find homes with Dak Prescott‘s pending extension with the Dallas Cowboys serving as the final data point.
This makes sense on Cousins’ end as he would like to make as much money as possible. It doesn’t benefit Minnesota though, who are trying to retain as many key players on their roster heading into free agency.
While it may have been nice for Cousins to agree to a team-friendly deal, that’s not going to happen. Which means the Vikings will have a tougher time avoiding a huge blow.
