5 bold free agency predictions for the 2020 Vikings

Minnesota will focus on their own free agents
While most of the predictions have been doom-and-gloom for the cap-strapped Vikings, there are some positives. With the money that was freed up earlier last week, they can make some moves and one of the biggest might be re-signing Everson Griffen.
Griffen returned to form last season, picking up eight sacks and posting a pass rusher productivity grade that was on par with his 2017 season. After opting out of his deal, Minnesota will have to get creative to bring him back.
But his role in the locker room combined with the organization’s support during his absence in 2018, may entice him to take a team-friendly deal. Such a path could resemble the final years of Brian Robison‘s career with the Vikings and allow a transition to some of the younger players on the defensive line.
Along with Griffen, the Vikings can also use their cap room to retain C.J. Ham, Eric Wilson, and Stephen Weatherly. These signings could lead to bigger roles and help Minnesota not go on a steep decline after free agency.
In all, the Vikings’ key objective should not be to win free agency, but mainly try to stay even before they enter the draft. With many things uncertain, it should be an interesting free agency period for Minnesota.
