Why the Minnesota Vikings should re-sign Eric Wilson
By Dean Jones
The Minnesota Vikings mare currently finalizing their plans ahead of free agency, which should include re-signing Eric Wilson.
Outside linebacker Eric Wilson rose significantly up the depth chart with the Minnesota Vikings last season ahead of a contract year.
The promising 25-year-old is heading into free agency with a high stock after impressing considerably in 2019. Wilson ended the season in the starting lineup and he has the scope to improve further.
Whether this will be in Minnesota or elsewhere remains to be seen. The Vikings have some huge decisions to make in the next few weeks that are going to shape the long and short-term ambitions of the franchise. Wilson was an undrafted free agent that has earned the right to a long-term deal with two good seasons under his belt.
The Minnesota defense is going to have a completely different look to it in 2020. There is the real prospect of seven starters or key rotational players not being on the roster by the time OTAs begin in the spring. This includes Wilson and the Vikings’ decision-makers need to make plans to keep some faces around for continuity ahead of a pivotal season for the organization.
Wilson has shown tremendous promise, but how likely is it that he will re-sign with Minnesota?
