Will Wilson command interest?

Eric Wilson is going to be an attractive proposition for any team looking to strengthen their outside linebacker position in free agency.

The player has proven his worth in a starting environment over the last two seasons. Anyone looking for a potential starter will be looking at someone like Wilson to see if he is ready to make another leap forward in his career.

This could see a number of offers for his services, which the Vikings can match with him being a restricted free agent. Wilson has earned the right to choose which fit suits him best and where he has the best chance of maximizing his potential.

Teams are always looking to strengthen their pass-rush either from the defensive line or on the outside. This has become a more prominent part of the NFL in recent years thanks to the pass-happy approach of offensive coordinators.

Having someone with the versatility and skill of Wilson can only improve a team’s chances of achieving success. The player will know that his stock may never be higher and this is something he must take full advantage of financially in his next deal.

Wilson’s long-term security will be a prominent part of any discussions, as will his ambitions to become a regular starter. Minnesota might be able to offer him both if they free up enough funds, but they are undoubtedly going to have to fight for his signature during the free-agent frenzy later this month.
