Two years after giving Stefon Diggs a lucrative contract extension, the Minnesota Vikings reportedly dealt their star receiver to the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

It was likely a very tough decision to make, but the Minnesota Vikings did what they felt was best for their franchise and traded Stefon Diggs on Monday.

Rumors of Diggs’ displeasure with the Vikings had been building up for a while and it ultimately resulted in Minnesota sending the receiver packing. In return, the Vikings now have additional selections to use during this year’s NFL Draft including the 22nd pick in the first round.

It’s unfortunate that Diggs and Minnesota couldn’t repair whatever relationship problems resulted in Monday’s trade. But the Vikings have an entire locker room to worry about and the Bills clearly gave them an offer they couldn’t refuse.

Many Minnesota fans are going to wake up on Tuesday and wish the news of Diggs being dealt was just a nightmare. However, it’s a reality and one the Vikings hope will ultimately improve their chances to contend in 2020.

What are some of the reasons why Minnesota eventually felt like trading Diggs was a move that had to be made?
