The writing was on the wall

Frustrations between Stefon Diggs and the Vikings have apparently been brewing for quite some time.

Remember when Diggs wasn’t present during Minnesota’s OTAs last year and the team said there was nothing to worry about? Well according to the Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling, this is when the receiver first began his efforts to get the Vikings to trade him.

Then came the infamous incident back in October when he skipped out on a Minnesota practice without giving anyone notice. Diggs said he wasn’t at practice because of cold and then responded to a question about him wanting to be traded by saying, “there’s truth to all rumors.”

After his decision to not show up at practice, the Vikings reportedly fined the receiver over $200,000. It seemed like a pretty big penalty for a guy who just had a cold.

Everything seemed to be fine (possibly pun intended) after this incident and then came the offseason. The receiver took the opportunity to post the most cryptic tweets possible and cause Minnesota fans to lose their mind with whatever emoji he chose to include.

For whatever reason, Diggs wasn’t happy with how things were going with the Vikings and he wanted out. It took longer than he probably would have liked, but the receiver got his wish and Minnesota dealt him to the Bills.

But luckily for him, now he gets to attempt to catch passes from Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen who has a worse career completion percentage than Christian Ponder.
