The Minnesota Vikings pulled the trigger and traded Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. What do they do now in the NFL Draft with a huge hole at receiver?

The 2020 NFL Draft will best be known for its incredibly deep wide receiver class. The Minnesota Vikings were able to haul a handful of draft picks in 2020 and an extra selection in the 2021 draft from the Buffalo Bills in return for Stefon Diggs.

With two first-round picks now in their hands for the 2020 draft, the Vikings can alleviate some needs right away.

Sitting at picks No. 22 and No. 25 gives Minnesota several intriguing options in late April. The Vikings could sit tight and select two players regardless of need at each spot. They could also trade out of one of those picks and accumulate even more ammunition later in the draft to add depth. Or if they really want to, they can likely move up from one of their picks and get a higher-caliber prospect.

We have no idea what Vikings general manager Rick Spielman will do at this point in the pre-draft process. It does make some sense to hold off on wide receivers and hope that some studs fall. On the other hand, it also makes sense to target one early in order to keep the passing game alive.

One thing will be true and that is Minnesota needs to get someone next to Adam Thielen if they want to have any success in the passing game next season. Thielen will be double-teamed often and Kirk Cousins needs someone else he can rely on. Diggs is one of the best receivers in the game and his absence will certainly be felt in 2020.
