Denzel Mims (Baylor)

Another first-round option that not enough people are talking about is former Baylor standout, Denzel Mims. Mims has been rumored to be a first-round prospect among NFL circles, and for good reason. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound receiver ran his 40-yard dash in 4.38-seconds at the Combine and his film is phenomenal.

Denzel Mims was one of the best players at the 2020 Senior Bowl down in Mobile, Alabama. After watching him dominate the Big 12, he showed that he can beat almost anybody who tries to stop him.

Mims is one of the best extended-catch guys in this draft and he will immediately pose a threat down the field. He also utilizes an advanced technique for such a young wide receiver, utilizing a subtle armbar to create separation down the field.

Stefon Diggs is a deadly receiver down the field and he can turn any play into a score. Mims is a very similar player in that regard.

He scored 28 times in college and led the NCAA in contested catches in 2019. His enormous catch radius and his ability to concentrate on the ball make him a stud in the vertical passing attack.

I could see Mims going in the last few picks of the first round. If the Vikings want him, they will have to take him with the 25th pick or move back a few spots. I totally understand if they prefer to wait until later in the draft to get a wide receiver, however.
