Kyle Rudolph – TE

If the Vikings were going to do anything with Kyle Rudolph then the 2020 offseason would be the time.

The being said, the experienced tight end still has plenty to offer and he might be worth keeping on the roster for what could possibly be the final year of Minnesota’s current window to achieve success.

Rudolph made a good impression last season and improved the blocking area of his game considerably. He also provided quarterback Kirk Cousins with a valuable red-zone option that he is going to need in 2020.

Having an eight-year veteran on the roster will also aid fellow Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. in his sophomore campaign. The Alabama product showed tremendous promise as a rookie and he is sure to build on this in 2020.

The benefit of having someone such as Rudolph to call upon for advice and guidance in order to make further strides forward will be invaluable for Smith and another reason why Minnesota should resist any offers from teams looking to acquire his services.

Rudolph counts a lofty $9.45 million against the Vikings’ salary cap next season. The organization would save $3.65 million if he is either released or traded, but this doesn’t equate to much and the tight end’s presence on the roster does more good than harm at this stage.
