Jonathan Greenard (Florida)
Jonathan Greenard is a versatile prospect who can operate either at defensive end or outside linebacker. He enjoyed a standout college career and he is expected to be picked within the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
His grit and determination make him a good fit for the Vikings. Greenard began his college career at Louisville and recorded 2.5 sacks and 22 total tackles during his first year on the field.
He followed this up with 48 tackles and seven sacks in 2017 before a serious wrist injury ended his 2018 campaign abruptly. Greenard decided to play his final season at Florida and he enjoyed the best year of his college career on his way to 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 53 combined tackles.
What Greenard lacks in speed he more than makes up for with effort and perseverance. He has a tremendous motor and although his pass-rushing technique needs coaching up, he looks set to have a good career in the NFL.
Greenard is also a commanding presence on running plays and he tackles well. He is not considered to be a well-rounded pass-rusher, but he does possess some explosiveness that will make a transition to the pros.
The Vikings have had success with players of Greenard’s skill set in the past. If they could get him in the second round it would be a real success and one that is definitely worth considering.
