Chauncey Rivers (Mississippi State)

Chauncey Rivers’ time in the college system has been an eventful one and it should eventually lead to a projected mid-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

After initially committing to Georgia, the pass-rusher opted for a move down to the junior college system at East Mississippi CC before transferring to Mississippi State.

Rivers has a supreme amount of upside and although he is still a little rough around the edges, he has the ability to make things happen. He possesses excellent instincts and even though he is a little on the small side, his strength still makes things very difficult for opposing lineman.

There will be at least one NFL team that will look at Rivers’ athleticism and think they can turn him into the next great pass-rusher in the pros. While that is an enticing project for any franchise, the Vikings need help now and Rivers would be someone who they can use in passing situations behind Danielle Hunter and Ifeadi Odenigbo.

More pass-rushing options are something the Vikings now desperately need following the loss of Everson Griffen and Stephen Weatherly, who penned a two-year, $12 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. Rivers is unquestionably raw, but he has a really impressive skill-set and scope for improvement.
