Davis’ Combine performance
Raekwon Davis certainly enhanced his draft stock with a polished showing at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine.
He measured in at 6-foot-6 and 311 pounds, a good size for a player operating at the defensive tackle position. Davis also took part in all drills and highlighted impressively what he is going to bring to the NFL.
The Alabama prospect recorded 24 reps on the bench press and a respectable 5.12 seconds in the 40-yard dash. What scouts would have been most impressed by was Davis’ work on the field during the position-specific drills.
Davis moves incredibly well for a man his size and he has the hand strength to make a difference in a critical area of the field. There is little doubt an NFL team has fallen in love with him after a strong evaluation process which could see the player drafted in the first round.
He has quietly gone about his business and he has addressed the lack of motivation he suffered during his senior year at Alabama. Whether Davis’ decision to not to enter the NFL in 2018 played a part in his down year or not is up for debate.
The defensive tackle is a physical specimen who has the skills to make a solid transition to the next level. He showcased this superbly at the Combine and he has enough positive tape to earn himself a lot of money in the coming weeks.
Enough time has passed to ensure his off-the-field worries are well behind him. This all points to Davis being a hot commodity next month.
