Who are some former Minnesota Vikings greats who ended their careers with another team like Tom Brady is about to do with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
It is always strange when a player spends the majority of their career with a team and then we see them go to a different team in their final twilight seasons.
Some that come to mind are Joe Montana playing with the Chiefs, Cris Carter playing for the Dolphins, Peyton Manning joining the Broncos and most recently Tom Brady leaving the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Seeing Brady in that pewter and orange is going to be very weird next season but by a few weeks in, we will all be used to it. There have been a handful of former Vikings’ greats who have left the beloved Purple late in their careers to join another team. More often than not, it’s due to financial reasons and age, and the team has to do what’s best for them and go with a younger and less expensive option.
The Vikings have gotten a recent taste of this. Just a few seasons ago Adrian Peterson was let go and he joined the Saints. Since then he’s been a Cardinal and now is still going with the Redskins. Everson Griffen could be the next former Viking great to don new colors, but hopefully, the team can bring him back for a few more seasons, as he showed he still has a lot of football left in him. Here’s a list of some fairly recent Vikings’ legends who finished their careers with other teams.
