5 best prospects who could be available for the Vikings at pick No. 22
By Nik Edlund

D’Andre Swift – RB
The Vikings don’t need to take a running back in the 2020 NFL Draft and certainly not in the first round. With Dalvin Cook topping the depth chart followed by Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone, Minnesota is more than set at the position.
However, if the Vikings are truly going to follow the philosophy of drafting the best player available when they are on the clock, then they could be looking at this former Georgia Bulldog running back.
D’Andre Swift is the best back in this year’s draft. He’s not an explosive runner by any means, but he is a patient back who understands the blocking schemes and waits until a hole opens up before he goes bursting through it.
He’s got an extremely powerful lower body and one of the best things about him is his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. Swift has soft, sticky mitts and he is always a threat to catch the ball. Coaches will love his willingness and ability to pass protect, which should keep him on the field for all three downs during his rookie season.
On the surface, Minnesota doesn’t have to take a running back. Though there is some concern about Cook’s long term status with the team and the question looms if extending him is financially worth it.
While it’s extremely doubtful the Vikings would take Swift at pick No. 22 or 25, if they are using the best player available method, then he’s certainly in the mix.
