Lamb’s draft stock

If CeeDee Lamb was a hot commodity heading into the evaluation process, then he is now a sure-fire prospect after impressing considerably.

He produced electrifying displays at both the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine and Oklahoma’s Pro Day. This has left scouts salivating over the prospect of drafting the receiver and seeing what he can bring at the next level.

Lamb ran his 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds at the Combine, which was matched by a 34.5-inch jump and a 124-inch broad jump. That was nothing compared to the impact he left during the on-field drills, which saw him demonstrate his exceptional route running and hands to produce jaw-dropping catches.

He followed this up with more of the same during the Sooners’ Pro Day, showcasing his versatility and outstanding ability to grab the ball at the point of attack. Lamb is now a lock to go in the first round next month and may even come off the board with the first 10 picks.

He will not be around when the Vikings pick at No. 22. If they see Lamb as a difference-maker who can change the landscape of the franchise, then moving up considerably is going to be their only hope.

There is no such thing as a sure-fire NFL prospect coming out of college. Plenty can go wrong for any young product when they get money beyond their wildest dreams or during their transition to the pros.

That being said, Lamb is as close as it gets to a sure thing and he should be one of the first names called out by commissioner Roger Goodell during this year’s NFL Draft.
