3 trades the Vikings should make before the 2020 NFL Draft
By Adam Patrick
Patrick Peterson – CB (Arizona Cardinals)
Minnesota’s current cornerback situation isn’t exactly ideal. After the recent departures of Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and Mackensie Alexander, the Vikings are left with the inexperienced Mike Hughes and Holton Hill as the top corners on their current roster.
Maybe Minnesota is going to roll with Hughes and Hill as their starters for 2020, but they should still be looking to add some more experience to the group this offseason.
Patrick Peterson was in the middle of a bunch of trade rumors last year and multiple teams were interested in acquiring the current Cardinals corner. The Vikings should be giving Arizona a call to see if there’s still a chance that Peterson could be acquired in a trade.
Not only would Peterson immediately step in as Minnesota’s No. 1 corner, he also has a ton of experience as a punt returner, which is another role the Vikings have to fill this offseason.
The Cardinals would likely be looking to receive at least a second-round pick in exchange for the veteran corner. If Arizona will only agree to a trade that includes a first-round selection, then Minnesota might say no thanks.
But if the Cardinals are willing to part ways with Peterson for a second-round selection or lower, then the Vikings might be able to acquire their new top cornerback for 2020.
