Cornerback Holton Hill has shown good progress over his two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, but can he make another giant leap in 2020?

The upcoming NFL season could be a big one for cornerback Holton Hill with the Minnesota Vikings. A real opportunity has opened up for him after a series of departures and this could benefit him more than most.

Little was expected of Hill when he arrived in Minnesota as an undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2018. He managed to play his way into the rotation and bigger things could be in his future if he continues to progress this offseason.

Next season could also have huge financial implications for Hill, who is set to be a restricted free agent in 2021. If he manages to make a starting spot his own in 2020 and he plays well under pressure, then he will be sure to earn much more than he ever dreamed of when he entered the league.

There are currently starting spots up for grabs in Minnesota. The Vikings have moved on from all three of their top corners from last season and it has left the position group decimated.

The organization is not blessed with a mountain of salary cap space and any potential draft prospect is going to need time to adapt to the rigors of life at the next level. That leaves just Hill and former first-round selection Mike Hughes who know the system and can carry the load at the present time.

There is a slight chance the Vikings bring back Xavier Rhodes, but this would be a backward step given his dismal performances over the last two seasons.
