How can Hill improve?

Holton Hill is still a raw project who hasn’t been asked to do too much so far with the Vikings. With the loss of the experienced trio of Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and Mackensie Alexander, Hill will now have more on his shoulders for 2020.

That’s not to say he is not capable of filling the void. Hill has performed well above expectations so far, but there is still much work to do in order to turn himself into an accomplished corner.

His physicality on the line of scrimmage needs significant improvement. Hill does look overwhelmed at times against difficult matchups and he has the tendency to lose confidence quickly if things are not going his way.

Hill has good speed for a player at his position. However, he does need to enhance his ability to read the quarterback and certain routes if he is thrust into a starting spot next season.

There is also the question of Hill’s suspect decision-making on-and-off the field. These could be due to his age. But he will need to show real improvements in this area in order for Minnesota to make a longer commitment to the corner going forward.

Hill has the capability to produce consistently, which is something the Vikings need now more than ever.
