5 best Minnesota Vikings free agents who are still available
By Nik Edlund
Josh Kline – OG
You hate to see a guy play well one season and then get released the next, but that is what happened to Josh Kline.
Kline was by far the Vikings’ second-best offensive lineman in 2019, but it wasn’t enough to give him another year in purple. He did everything Minnesota could have hoped for by being an aggressive blocker in the running game and holding his own in pass protection.
Kline did miss a few games with concussions last season, but that’s no reason to flat out cut a guy. Reportedly, the team wanted him to restructure his contract to free up some money and when he said no, as he should have, they cut him. It is the biggest head-scratching move of the Vikings’ offseason so far.
Kline can still play. He was great a season ago and despite missing a few games, he deserves to get a chance to start for a team in 2020. Minnesota reportedly wants to bring him back, but if I’m Kline, I’m telling them to bugger off and I’m looking to sign elsewhere.
It is surprising he has yet to find a new team this year, as there are plenty out there who could use an experienced guard who showed just a season ago that he can still play at a high level.
