5 best Minnesota Vikings free agents who are still available

Xavier Rhodes – CB
Anyone who saw Xavier Rhodes play a season ago shouldn’t be surprised that he hasn’t found a new team yet.
The guy was flat out awful and he couldn’t cover even the most inexperienced wide receiver who lined up across from him. He was a huge liability and teams routinely continued to pick on him throughout the 2019 season.
As bad as Rhodes was, he still has name recognition. He was one of the best corners in the NFL for a good three-year stretch as he would completely shut down an opposing team’s top receiver.
He has fallen so far in recent seasons that it’s hard to remember that he was once great. It was thought that perhaps a change of scenery and coaching philosophy could do Rhodes good. This, mixed with his elite play from years prior, probably should’ve resulted in him getting signed by now. But teams are clearly going off what the tape shows from the last two seasons and staying far away from Rhodes.
In his defense, the cornerback market has been a little cold this offseason. Darius Slay and Nickell Robey-Coleman weren’t signed to huge contracts and Logan Ryan, who is coming off a good season with the Tennessee Titans, remains unsigned. If a few more guys come to terms, maybe Rhodes will be next.
There have been some rumblings lately that he could return to Minnesota, but a change might be the best for him and for Vikings fans as things could get ugly quick if his poor play continues in 2020.
