Dakota Dozier – OG

Dakota Dozier isn’t a big name, but the big man played quite well for the Vikings in spot duty last year. He showed the ability to be able to move over to tackle in the preseason and that positional flexibility helped him secure a job on Minnesota’s final 53-man roster.

Dozier seemed to be at his best when he came in during a game to fill in for an injured player. In most cases, this was when Josh Kline went down with a concussion. Dozier filled in admirably in those contests and the offense and running game, in particular, continued to hum.

In the games where he was forced to start, he seemed to struggle more and perhaps it was because teams were identifying him as the weak link and scheming to exploit his inexperience. He had trouble stepping up in those situations. But again, for a guy who provides depth at two positions, it’s a little surprising to see him still available in free agency.

Dozier should eventually get picked up by a team and him returning to the Vikings is definitely not out of the question. Minnesota could use the depth he can provide and he’s already familiar with the offense, so it makes a lot of sense if they can work out the numbers financially.
