Who are some prospects the Minnesota Vikings could reach for with their two first-round choices in the 2020 NFL Draft?

Minnesota Vikings fans never want to see their team reach for a need in the NFL Draft, especially in the first round.

During post-draft press conferences, teams will deny until they’re blue in the face that they reached and they will always say the guy they took was the highest-ranked one on their board at the time. This is typically a load of crap and fans know their favorite team was just picking a certain prospect to fill a specific need.

The Vikings have definitely reached in the past. The biggest one that comes to mind is their selection of Christian Ponder back in 2011.

No one had Ponder ranked as the 12th best player in that draft and there were much better options on the board at the time for Minnesota like Robert Quinn, Nate Solder, and Cameron Jordan.

Unfortunately, the Vikings had a huge need at quarterback at the time and forced the selection of Ponder at pick No. 12. No one had the former Florida State passer ranked that high and based on a talent standpoint alone, he wasn’t worthy of an early first-round choice.

Minnesota has some pretty big needs heading into this year’s draft. Wide receiver and cornerback are the big two, but offensive line, safety, and defensive end are nipping at their heels.

The Vikings likely learned their lesson with the Ponder snafu, but they could be tempted to make a similar reach this year. Who are some of the prospects Minnesota could reach for either at pick No. 22 or 25 in a few weeks?
