Nickell Robey-Coleman – CB

Nickell Robey-Coleman has been on the Vikings’ radar in the past and he apparently was this offseason as well. But just like in the past, Robey-Coleman opted to sign with someone else.

The veteran corner ended up agreeing to a one-year contract worth up to $1.3 million with the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s hard to imagine Minnesota couldn’t offer him this kind of money, even with their limited cap space.

With the departure of Mackensie Alexander, Robey-Coleman would have been a great player to bring in and take over the role as the Vikings’ slot corner for next season. But he clearly felt the Eagles had something better to offer than Minnesota.

Now, the Vikings have to either hope one of their current corners can succeed in the slot or try and find a new guy for the job during this year’s NFL Draft. Minnesota likely wouldn’t be in this position though if they had just offered Robey-Coleman more than what Philadelphia was willing to pay him.
