Safety Harrison Smith has enjoyed a sensational career with the Minnesota Vikings. But 2020 promises to be a pivotal season for the player.

A big season awaits Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith. He has been a premier locker room leader during his time with the organization and this needs to continue in 2020.

The Vikings secondary has undergone a number of changes this offseason with the loss of their top three cornerbacks from 2019. It remains to be seen whether Anthony Harris will be sticking around after he was given the franchise tag.

Recent reports suggest that Minnesota has now slowed down their efforts to trade Harris and they are now focusing on extending the player. This would be tremendous news for the franchise and it would give Smith a formidable companion in the secondary for next season.

Smith played at an elite level once again in 2019. He is now heading into the second-to-last year of his contract. There is additional pressure on the player to produce given he has become the face of the Vikings defense in recent years.

He has been a revelation throughout his NFL career and he has proved himself highly worthy of the 29th overall selection Minnesota used on Smith back in 2012. The safety has taken on the responsibility of leading the defense by example, something that has come with a wealth of different accolades.
