Javon Kinlaw – DT (South Carolina)

There was zero chance Javon Kinlaw was going to fall to the Vikings at pick No. 25, but there’s at least a glimmer of hope of him being available for them at pick No. 22.

Minnesota’s need for an interior disruptor on defense is still very high. They went out and signed the “Juggernaut’ Michael Pierce, but he’s a run stuffer. Shamar Stephen is also considered a run stuffer, as is Jaleel Johnson.

Armon Watts is the best pure interior pass rusher for the Vikings right now and while he’s coming off a nice rookie season, he probably isn’t ready to be “the guy” in year two while Kinlaw could be.

This guy has freakish size at 6-foot-5 and 324 pounds. He is a bit of a wildman at this point in his career, as he relies on his size and power to overcome anyone trying to block him. He is definitely not technically sound, but that can all be taught by Minnesota defensive line coach Andre Patterson.

For Kinlaw to slide to the Vikings, many things would have to happen. Four quarterbacks would have to be drafted in the top 20. There would need to be a run on offensive tackles as well as receivers. There would probably also need to be some sort of surprise pick that would push Kinlaw down the board.

There is a chance this guy ends up in the top 10 this year. But if he fell all the way to pick No. 22, he’d be a huge addition for Minnesota and he would bring their defensive line back to a dominating and unblockable level.
