The Minnesota Vikings need help at wide receiver after trading Stefon Diggs, but should they consider trading for Odell Beckham Jr.?

Things did not end well for wide receiver Stefon Diggs with the Minnesota Vikings. After a season littered with frustrations ended with the player being traded to the Buffalo Bills for a haul of draft picks including the 22nd overall selection in 2020.

Although the Vikings signed Tajae Sharp to a one-year deal, this is only going to be a short-term solution. If they are going to be in win-now mode in 2020, a bigger splash might be needed.

The Vikings could do a lot worse than making a trade inquiry for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The player is one of the best in the NFL on his day but became increasingly disillusioned last season thanks in no small part to the inconsistent production of quarterback Baker Mayfield.

That has resulted in speculation linking Beckham with a move away from the Browns this offseason. Nothing concrete has come in as yet, but there is no doubt this scenario would send huge shockwaves across the league and give Minnesota’s roster a significant boost.

General manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer are heading into the final year of their respective deals. What they do between now and when competitive action gets underway is sure to go a long way to determining their long-term future with the franchise.

The Vikings have made some bold moves in free agency so far. Acquiring someone with the game-changing ability of Beckham would be the biggest move in recent memory.
