Third Round (Pick No. 89)

Jordan Elliott – IDL (Missouri)

Jordan Elliott is a prospect that the guys over at Pro Football Focus love. He was given a 92.4 grade by them, which was first in the nation, and he’s also ranked third in their interior defensive line ranks.

With the Vikings losing Linval Joseph to the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency this year, they need to find someone who can create more penetration than what they currently have on their roster.

At pick No. 89, Minnesota landing Elliott would be huge. He’s a solid gap penetrator as a pass rusher. He can minimize his surface area and squeeze through tight holes. He’s athletic and he has good flexibility and bend to him.

He’ll be a solid 2-gapping type of interior player with his type of versatility. He uses his hands well and he has a good anchor to him to stand-up against stronger interior blockers.

He has a really good high swim move that can help him find his way into the offensive backfield quickly. He also has a good initial push off of the snap when he gets a good jump.

While Elliott isn’t always the guy in the play making a splash, he’s good at understanding his assignment and run-filling where he needs to.
