Fifth Round (Pick No. 168)

Isaiah Hodgins – WR (Oregon State)

It may be a concern for Vikings fans if they wait on taking a wide receiver this late in the draft. But if they can grab a guy like Isaiah Hodgins, they should feel pretty good.

He’s a long, lanky type of receiver who can play with some physicality. He’s strong in contested catch situations and he can go up and get the ball in 50/50 situations.

He’s a smooth route runner and he has a phenomenal double move. His hands are strong as he can catch through contact and he has no problem catching the ball in traffic. He has good concentration and he won’t have those easy drops you see out of young prospects at times.

With losing Stefon Diggs, Minnesota is sure to draft a receiver in this class. They’ve missed that bigger type of receiver who can be a contested-catch type of player and a red-zone threat.

Hodgins brings that to an offense. You might be concerned when picks start to go by and no receiver is being selected by the Vikings. But in this case, it works out extremely well.
