Sixth Round (Pick No. 206)
Alex Taylor – OT (South Carolina State)
Alex Taylor is a smaller school kid who didn’t get a lot of publicity early, but he is now starting to get some hype.
He’s a monster standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 308 pounds with really good athleticism for a guy that big. This helps him be a force in the run game. He can kick-out and climb to the second level with ease and can block very well on the move.
He has a good kick-slide that allows him to get to the edge and seal the backside. He’s a raw player with high potential that needs refinement on his overall technique, but he should be able to find it with professional coaches.
With Riley Reiff still on the left side of the Vikings’ offensive line, Taylor would benefit from sitting behind him for a year. He’s not going to be a stud right away, but he is that high ceiling-type of prospect Minnesota needs on their offensive line.
