Jake Fromm is potentially the closest thing you will see to current Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins in the 2020 NFL Draft. Whether that is something that the franchise is looking for in a prospect is up for debate.

The Georgia product is a very good decision-maker and is able to go through his reads quickly. His ability to read defenses and alter plays on the line of scrimmage is up to NFL standard already.

There are a number of flaws in Fromm’s game that will need brushing up. His accuracy needs work and he doesn’t possess the sort of arm strength which is normally required in the pros.

Fromm’s inability to close out games in big moments is also something similar to what Minnesota gets from Cousins. This is something that cannot necessarily be coached up and the prospect is seen more as a backup player.

With Cousins now under contract until 2023, this might work well for the Minnesota Vikings. Fromm does have upside providing he is given 2-3 years to learn his craft and figure out how to make the most of his skills at the next level.

If things are not working for Cousins in Minnesota, their fanbase will be less than enamored with the prospect of someone like Fromm filling the void. He comes from a similar ilk and the jury is still out about his ability to become a productive starter in the NFL.

That being said, Fromm represents good value if he falls anywhere past the third round.
