Deondre Francois has bounced back from a serious injury in 2017 to bring his career back from the brink.
He would have been eligible after the 2017 season until a patellar-tendon injury forced him to go back into the college system with Hampton. The player stayed trouble-free and showed scouts he is back to something like his best.
Although he is very raw, Francois has a lot of upsides and might be worth a late-round flyer from the Minnesota Vikings. The player has solid arm strength and has experience of playing in a pro system during his time at Florida State.
His freshman season in 2016 saw him propelled into the conversation of the best young quarterbacks in the country. Things have not gone according to plan since. But few would deny Francois is worthy of a shot at competing for an NFL job after working so hard to recover from his injury.
Francois’s accuracy needs significant improvement, as does his decision making. He also tends to focus primarily on one target and will need to go through his progressions a lot quicker against secondaries with a much higher IQ in the NFL.
The quarterback does have good footwork and has no trouble throwing on the run with accuracy. The extra year of experience will have done wonders for his confidence and that will bode well for the next stage of his journey.
