Keeps Minnesota’s defense elite

In 2014, the Vikings brought in Mike Zimmer to be their new head coach and fix a defense that performed at an embarrassing level in 2013.

During his tenure with Minnesota, Zimmer has been able to not only improve the team’s defense, but he has the unit consistently ranking as one of the best in the NFL.

Continuing the Vikings’ defensive dominance during the upcoming season is shaping up to be one of Zimmer’s biggest challenges since he arrived in 2014. Minnesota has already seen multiple defensive starters from 2019 depart for new teams and there could still be even more changes coming to the unit during the next few weeks.

If the Vikings were able to acquire Yannick Ngakoue in a trade, it would certainly give the team a better shot at remaining dominant in 2020. Minnesota’s defensive success depends a lot on the work of their pass rushers up front and adding someone like Ngakoue would allow them to continue utilizing their same methods.
