How will Diggs’ time with the Vikings be remembered?

Stefon Diggs was more than just the “Minneapolis Miracle”. He was an unfancied prospect that got the opportunity to make an instant impact with the Vikings and he took it with both hands.

Regardless of the way he engineered a move away from Minnesota, Diggs has plenty of fond memories for Vikings fans to look back on. But there will always be the question of what might have been regarding the player’s potential with the organization.

Once Diggs got the big-money deal he was looking for, the relationship with the franchise changed. He was getting paid like an elite wide receiver and he started acting like it in no uncertain terms.

This had the potential to cause more damage down the line. Head coach Mike Zimmer has little tolerance for disruptive influences within the locker room and he decided that Diggs was a problem he didn’t need long term.

It is a disappointing scenario for all involved. But at least the Vikings got some valuable draft capital for a player that cost the 146th overall pick in 2015 to bring to the franchise.

Diggs will be missed on the field, of that there is no doubt. Minnesota would have expected better from a player they invested a tremendous amount in for the future.

Some players are not born to be leaders. This is the case with Diggs and it will be interesting to see whether he takes his petulance and self-interest to the Bills.
